1 & 1/2 pounds of ground beef
One egg
Salt, pepper to taste.
3/4 cup Marinara sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella
Your favorite toppings - pepperoni, Italian sausage, Canadian bacon, mushrooms, onion, olives, you get the idea
Mix up the ground beef, egg, salt and pepper. Press into the bottom of an oven proof skillet. Bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes. Let it cool a bit then tilt the skillet to drain some the excess fat. The ground beef will shrink a bit after cooking. This is your “crust”
Add the marinara sauce then top with the mozzarella cheese.
Add your favorite toppings. Some of the toppings might need to be precooked since the final step is a brief spell under the broiler.
Once assembled, place under the broiler until the cheese is melted and just starting to brown. It doesn’t take long so watch it closely.
This makes enough for several meals and keeps well in the refrigerator.
